Q99 and Roanoke Valley Community Credit Union adopted one local family in need through the Salvation Army of Roanoke Valley. Today (DEC 19), Q99’s David Page, along with our Breaking and Entering elves, surprised our adopted family and delivered Christmas to their home. Our recipient this year was a 33-year-old, single mom with 5 kids. She was left to raise the kids on her own. She had to move in with family to try and get ahead. The environment was too toxic, and she wanted to figure out a way to become more stable on her own. She researched and found that Roanoke was a nice, safe, affordable place to live. She came here and found a job, a home and brought her kids here to live. She came here completely starting over with just a few clothes that they had. Mom works as a CNA full-time. She wants to go back to school and obtain her GED as well as her LPN. She hopes to eventually start her own private in-home health care business here in Roanoke. The oldest child has been diagnosed with a form of Autism and the 7 yr old might be color blind, but more testing will have to be done.
See how we were able to bring Christmas to this family in need this year!
