1 large loaf french bread, thinly sliced
1 lb sweet Italian sausage
olive oil
1 small red pepper, finely chopped
1 medium onion, finely chopped
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella
salt to taste
pepper to taste
garlic powder to taste
cayenne pepper to taste
1/3 cup fresh basil, chopped
Preheat oven to 375. Brush each side of bread with olive oil, place on a baking sheet and bake 6-8 minutes per side. Meanwhile, heat more olive oil and cook sausage, breaking into crumbles. Add red pepper and onions till softened a bit. drain grease. Add meat mixture to mixing bowl. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. spoon sausage mixture onto bread slices, bake 5 minutes or until mixture starts to brown slightly. Serve warm.
