First Baptist of Ivy Gap (Entertainment)
Location: Appomattox Courthouse Theatre

Appomattox Courthouse Theatre will present the poignant comedy First Baptist of Ivy Gap. Its 1945, six women gather at the First Baptist Church in Ivy Gap to plan the 75th anniversary of the church. They share their dreams, keep secrets and roll bandages -- Twenty five years later the ladies are planning the 100th anniversary of the church. Some dreams have been shattered and secrets still kept. Through good and tragic times these women are always funny while finding comfort, forgiveness and redemption in each other. It’s funny, it’s sad. It’s worth seeing. You’ll love it. Advance tickets can be purchased at Baines Books and Coffee, Appomattox Visitor Information Center or online at lynchburgtickets.com. Location: Tanglewood Mall

Roanoke County Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism along with support from Roanoke County’s department of economic development present “Tons of Fun” at Tanglewood Mall. The day includes clowns, puppet shows, music, magicians, games, craft activities, caricatures, carnival rides, exhibits, entertainment and much more spread throughout the Mall. Tons of Fun is designed for children 12 years old and younger, with a family atmosphere. The Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline Council, Camp Roanoke, Goodwill Industries of the Valleys, Mill Mountain Zoo, June Bug Center, Good Samaritan Hospice, Joy Makers Clown Ministry, Virginia Museum of Transportation and the Roanoke Symphony are just a few of the organizations that help continue the growth and excitement of this family event. All activities are free, thanks to the sponsorship of Tanglewood Mall, Roanoke County’s Department of Economic Development and Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism.
