Virginia Private College Week Campus Tours & Information Sessions (Educational)
Location: Hollins University

Hollins University is among 25 colleges and universities across the Commonwealth taking part in Virginia Private College Week, July 26-31. The program includes campus tours and information sessions about admissions, affordability, and academic programs. Sponsored by the Council of Independent Colleges in Virginia (CICV), the annual event gives rising high school juniors and seniors and their families an alternative to squeezing in campus visits during the hectic academic year. In addition, students who visit at least three of the participating colleges during the week will receive application fee waivers for any three CICV colleges of their choice. Hollins will host daily Open House programs for prospective students and their families. Sessions will be offered at 9 am and 2 pm, Monday - Friday, July 26-30, and 9 am on Saturday, July 31. Touch a Truck (Outdoor Event)
Time: 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Location: Green Hill Park

This free event is a community wide happening where both kids and adults have the opportunity to see, touch, and play while learning about well over 100 cool vehicles. From fire trucks to motorcycles, cement trucks to police cars, UPS trucks to garbage trucks and why not airplanes as well. How often does one get to look inside, sit inside and operate as well as climb all over any of these unusual vehicles? Plus talk to someone who operates them? Kids of all ages are sure to be excited and enthralled with all that they have to explore. Additional favorite activities will include events involving “water” such as Firemen’s Foam, water spray and possibly even a water slide. Face painting, balloon sculptures, costumed characters, food vendors and other special attractions will help to add to the event’s appeal.
