The 2012 Dickens of a Christmas kicks off in downtown Roanoke starting at 5:30 PM on Friday, December 7th. The first event is the City of Roanoke's Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at SunTrust Plaza. The Q99/Valleydale Cafe' will be set up from 5:30-10:00 PM on Wall Street with Q-Bear and Virginia Blood Services will be joining us at Dickens of a Christmas giving out information on how you can help save local lives in our community. Come by and register to win a Christmas Feast that includes a mini-fridge stuffed with food. WSLS Channel 10 will countdown to the tree lighting starting at 5:30 PM with the actual lighting at 6:20 PM. The festivities will continue into the night until 10pm including live stage and street performances! Other activities taking place throughout the night in the Historic Market area include carriage rides, live carolers, a magician, a fire eater and sword swallower, photos with Santa, a living nativity scene, and more!
